About Nordstrand
This area offers close distance to both sea and nature. Nordstrand is a flourishing borough famous for its beautiful view of the Oslofjord, and its long beach along the coast. The beach in Nordstrand is the longest beach in Oslo, a favourite spot for locals to relax, swim and do activities all along the year. The beach area known as ‘Nordstrand bad’ is also home to restaurants, a concert hall, a bowling alley and a rollercoaster. There is also a diving platform and great spots to fish on the northern side of the beach. From Nordstrand it is only a short ride over to the idyllic island ‘Ulvøya’, offering stunning nature and sightseeing opportunities.
Nordstrand Geography
South of Oslo city center, along the west-coast, Nordstrand is located. The area has a population of around 52.000 and borders ‘Gamle Oslo’ in the north, Østensjø in the east and Søndre Nordstrand in the south. Nordstrand was created through a merge with the two other boroughs Lambertseter and Ekeberg-Bekkelaget. The area differs largely from bordering neighbours, and is among some considered to be part of western Oslo, although it is geographically located in the easter part.
