About Alna
Alna is most famous for the natural beauty of the river Alna that with its 17 kilometers is Oslo’s longest river. The river runs from Alnsøen and flows out into the Oslo Fjord in the center of Bjørvika. Alna is a great area to enjoy recreational activities or sports outdoors. The riding center attracts visitors that want to try horseback riding in some of the surrounding forests. Alna is a family friendly area with several sports facilities, parks, football fields and schools. In Høybråten Park, ice-skating is a popular winter activity for the locals in the area. Alna is located next to the lake ‘Lutvannet’ which is a good spot for fishing, canoeing or hiking.
Alna Geography
Located in the north-western parts of Oslo, Alna is home to around 44.200 inhabitants on an area of 13,7 square kilometers. Alna is the administrative name of this part of Oslo that received its name after ‘Alnaelven’, the river that flows through the area. The area is connected with central Olso by subway and the major E6 road.
